Frequently asked questions

How do I use a USB handheld barcode scanner with CodeKit?

Most USB scanners act as a 'keyboard wedge' that types digits and presses Enter—simply turn on Wedge Mode in the Device Panel below the scanner and pull the trigger, or pair directly via USB/Bluetooth.

Why is my laptop webcam having trouble reading a small 1D barcode?

Fixed-focus laptop webcams can blur up close. Hold the barcode 15–25 cm away in good lighting, or take a sharp photo with your phone and drop the image onto the scanner.
